President's Message

MOB Bazaar 2008

Despite the heavy downpour throughout the day on Saturday, the MOB Bazaar went on with huge success and we managed to surpass the amount we raised last year. Congratulations to all old boys, their hardworking and supportive wives and families for a job well done. On behalf of your Executive Committee, I thank you for the hard work, support and generosity shown at the bazaar and the days and weeks leading up to it.

We raised a total of $15,857.15. Congratulations again to Alphonous House for raising the highest amount this year with a contribution of $7,270.65. Augustine came in second with $4,310.08, Lambert third with $2,665.10 and Claudius fourth with $1,611.32. A special thank you to all the House Coordinators for leading your teams and doing most of the running around in this fundraising drive. Vinaka vakalevu.

The amount raised will be shared three way – 1) the Marist Brothers Trust Fund (set up by the old boys in 1997 to look after the welfare of the brothers), 2) the Marist Brothers’ Education Trust Board (which looks after all four schools owned by the brothers and which the MOB is represented on), and 3) retained by the MOB association for our projects and activities, including specific support for MBHS.

This MOB Bazaar which started last year will now be an annual event, conducted as an inter-house competition and will be the main form of fundraising for the year. Once again, I offer my thank you for a wonderful effort and look forward to your continued support in the future.

In the Marist Spirit,
Julian Sing
