Q. What is MOBilise?
A. MOBilise is an annual event that is looked forward to by many old boys from around the region and the world. It is a forum for MOB’s and friends of Marist to come together and discuss, formulate, draw up action plans as well as follow up on action plans from previous MOBilise forums, for the betterment of Marist Brothers High School and the wider Marist community. This year MOBilise, the third such event, will be in Fiji, and we expect wide participation from MOBs here in Fiji.
Q. What has MOBilise done for Marist in the past?
A. MOBilise initiatives in the past have had tangible benefits like, the provision of internet access and computers for MBHS and associate schools, a container load of books distributed to MBHS and other schools, brand new band equipment that led to the reincarnation of Marist rock developing students musical talent, brand new lab equipment for physics, chemistry and biology labs, among other benefits.
Q. When and where is it happening?
A. MOBilise this year will be held in Nadi, Korolevu on the coral coast and Suva. The National Gymnasium will be the venue for the MOBilise Forum on Thursday 28th October 2010. It will be the key event of the week’s activities which will include socializing, a picnic, fishing, school tours the annual old boys bazaar and a island night.
Q. How do I get in?
A. You will need to register. You can access the registration form at www.mob.com.fj, or request the forms from mobregfiji@gmail.com . There will be a registration office set up at the Fiji Club during that week. If you are registering from outside Suva, you can email completed forms to mobregfiji@gmail.com, or fax to +679 3301615.
Q. What is the program? Where can I get my hands on a program?
A. Attached is the latest draft or our program. It can also be viewed at www.mob.com.fj. Please note that though most of the activities are confirmed, and the rest will be firmed up as we move closer to MOBilise week.
Q. What level of involvement or participation can our spouses and partners have?
A. Spouses and partners are welcome to all events – there is absolutely no limitation. However, certain events such as the forum itself will be more serious where pertinent issues will be discussed and it may not be everyone’s cup of tea.
Q. Do we need to pay to get into any event?
A. Yes and no. There will be entry fee’s for certain events for which interested MOBs will need to register, like the forum itself and the island night to subsidise our costs. Other events like the bazaar are open to everyone. Events like fishing and golf are also being organised. For fishing, please email Fernando at fernandol@wgfiji.com.fj and for golf please email S.P Chung, at deltamarketing@kidanet.com.fj or Baljeet “Billy” Singh on bjsingh@kundan.com.fj
Q. Do our wives and partners have to register as well?
A. Not directly, but on your registration form there will be the option to fill in the name of your wife/partner and children, who may be participating in the weeks events.
Q. Is there merchandise for sale?
Q. For us MOBs who will be visiting Fiji for this, are there airfare concessions and if so, how do I get them?
A. Yes – Air Pacific is offering 15% off return air tickets to Nadi and Nausori for MOBs traveling to Fiji for MOBilise 2010. Contact Jo Rayawa at Air Pacific on josaia.rayawa@airpacific.com.fj

For details, please contact Mary Ali on email maryali@hexagonfiji.com or Kelera Ratumaiyale at smimngr@hexagonfiji.com. For Momi contact Anup, Manager of Seashell@Momi for those interested in that side excursion - email address is sammngr@hexagonfiji.com . Please quote “MOB” in order to get the concession. As our functions will also be at the Novotel Lami, they are also offering discounts on accommodation. Q. I can’t attend but I would like to send in a donation – where can I send it to?
A. All donations and payments can be deposited into our Marist Old Boys Association bank account with Westpac, at their main branch here in Suva. The account number is 980054505, Swift code WPACFJFX. PLEASE REMEMBER TO PUT YOUR NAME IN THE NARRATION SECTION OF THE DEPOSIT SLIP SO THAT WE KNOW WHO SENT US THE MONEY AND FOR WHAT PURPOSE, E.G ASERI CHANG REGISTRATION FOR MOBILISE. This is to obviously allow us to ascertain who the donations came from, and for what reasons so it does not become an administrative nightmare trying to match fees to who registered etc.
Q. What is UBI CARITAS IBI UNITAS?
A. It is the motto of the Marist Old Boys. It is a latin phrase that basically means, “where there is charity and love, there is unity” The legendary Brother Theophane Brailey gifted this motto to the Marist Old Boys Association in the late 90’s and you will agree, it is very fitting for our community of ex scholars.
